A sophisticated design to the “she-shed” is this chic shed, a light-filled space nested in an inviting backyard garden located in Sharpsville, Indiana. Called “The Hobby House”, the owner is stylist and owner of The Tinkerhouse Trading Company, Donna Jenkins. A compact backyard workshop, this lovely space offers 61-square-feet of living space. In this inspiring outdoor living space, the owner enjoys doing everything she cannot do inside the house, such as spray-painting and flower pressing. In addition to working on passion projects, Ms. Jenkins says she would also love to use this space for hosting flower-arranging workshops. As for her design inspiration for creating this fabulous outdoor room, “A Colonial saltbox”.
There are 34 salvaged windows that have been incorporated into the design of this chic shed. The owner’s favorite plant is the boxwood, to which she has a very green thumb! She has learned to propagate them from scratch and is very proud of her gardening know how. The magic hour of this backyard escape is 3pm. This is when the sunlight hits just right against the front windows, making them sparkle.
Above: Notice the green Adirondack chairs to in the background? These have been described as the owner’s best junking find. The chairs were made by her son in his high school shop class. They have found their around the property to wherever they are most needed. With outdoor furnishings for relaxing moments, this space is best enjoyed with sun tea, which is made right on site.
