On Thursday, a lion in Colombia was relocated closer to its “mother” in an effort to save its life. Ana Julia Torres, who rescued Jupiter at a young age from a circus, is known as his mother.

Jupiter, who earned the nickname “kissing lion” after a 2011 viral video of him hugging his caregiver Ana Julia Torres, had been emaciated and unable to walk in a video taken at his animal enclosure in the Cordoba department in 2020.
Although Jupiter had lived a long life, authorities took him from Torres’ custody in 2019 due to her alleged lack of the necessary paperwork to keep the lion. Jupiter was once again in the news in 2020, but for a different reason.
